Each year, the West Orange Junior Service League serves thousands of volunteer hours in support of local causes and nonprofit organizations while also hosting three major fundraising events. The funds raised through these events are awarded to local grant recipients, helping sustain essential programs that feed the homeless, support families in crisis, provide children with beds and vital resources, further education, and strengthen the lives of those in need across West Orange County.
Our story began in 1936, when Mrs. Phil C. Peters and twenty-five dedicated women laid the foundation for what was then the Winter Garden Welfare League. Their earliest efforts centered around caring for children through the West Orange County Day Nursery, setting in motion a legacy of service that has endured for nearly 90 years. Today, the West Orange Junior Service League continues that story through hands-on volunteering, fundraising, grants, scholarships, and meaningful support for the people and organizations serving West Orange County.

Message from Our President
As we celebrate 90 years of women serving, leading, giving, and showing up for West Orange County, I am deeply honored to serve as President of the West Orange Junior Service League.
Ninety years is more than a milestone. It is a legacy.
It began in 1936 with a group of women who saw needs in their community and chose to do something about them. They gathered their time, their talents, their friendships, and their hearts and they built something that would far outlive them. What started as women helping neighbors has grown into generations of women creating lasting impact across West Orange County. Today, that same spirit is alive in every meeting, every volunteer shift, every fundraiser, every grant awarded, every scholarship given, and every quiet act of service that happens when no one is watching.
This year, I step into the role of President with a full heart, a deep respect for the women who came before me, and so much excitement for where we are going. WOJSL is not just an organization. It is a sisterhood of women who believe that service matters, community matters, and that together, we can make life better for the people around us.
Our mission remains at the heart of everything we do. That mission is lived out in real and meaningful ways when a child no longer has to sleep on the floor, when a family receives basic necessities, when the hungry are fed, when children are given opportunities to learn and grow, when students receive scholarships, and when local nonprofits are able to continue the essential work our community depends on.
For 90 years, the women of WOJSL have answered the call to serve. This year, we will continue that legacy with open hearts, rolled-up sleeves, and a whole lot of West Orange spirit. I invite you to support us, partner with us, volunteer with us, and believe with us in what is possible when women come together for good.
